What happens when Allen The Balloon Man takes a little time off to enjoy the pool? Apparently, the balloon dogs come along, too!
These three pictures were taken a few years ago, but they still make me laugh. Most of the balloon dogs I make fit comfortably in someone’s hand. This one needed a little more room—and a swimming pool!
The pictures tell the story: first, here I am beside the pool with a giant red balloon dog around my waist. Next comes getting that oversized pup up the pool ladder. And finally, we’re in the water, where my expression pretty much speaks for itself!
I’m used to twisting balloons into dogs, but this time the dog had me looking a little twisted. So much for making a graceful entrance!
Of course, this is an inflatable pool float shaped like a balloon dog, rather than something I made with my usual twisting balloons. But how could a balloon entertainer resist a float like this? Even on a day off, I seem to find a way to surround myself with balloons.
Looking back at these pictures reminds me that some of the best memories are the silly ones. A little pool time, a ridiculously large balloon dog, and a willingness to look goofy can create a memory that still brings a smile years later.
Now, if only I could teach this dog to fetch a towel!
