On September 9, 1988, Allen Davis started a small entertainment business called Clowns-And-More in Quincy, Illinois. At that time, he offered birthday entertainment and delivered telegrams as several different characters—including clowns, a nerd, and even a gorilla.
He could not have imagined where that beginning would lead.
Over the years, the business grew beyond birthday parties and telegrams. Allen performed at fairs, colleges, company picnics, restaurants, nursing homes, community celebrations, and many other events. His work took him throughout Illinois, Missouri, Iowa, Nebraska, Kansas, and even to the Broward County Fair in Florida.
Eventually, Allen made Omaha his home and became known as Allen The Balloon Man. Although the name and performances have changed through the years, the most important part of his business has remained the same: the people.
Every customer who invited Allen to a party, hired him for an event, recommended him to someone else, or welcomed him back for another performance helped make these 38 years possible. Being included in so many celebrations and special memories has been an honor.
Allen is also thankful for everyone who encouraged him as he continued learning and developing his balloon art, comical magic, unicycling, and puppetry. That support helped Allen Dean Davis Entertainment earn the Best of Omaha award for Family Entertainment in both 2022 and 2025—recognition that would not have been possible without the people who hired, supported, and voted for him.
Running a business for 38 years has brought changes, challenges, surprises, laughter, and many unforgettable experiences. There have been a lot of balloons twisted along the way—and certainly a few balloons that popped!
As Allen celebrates this anniversary, he mainly wants to say thank you. Thank you to his customers, friends, family members, fellow entertainers, and everyone who has been part of this journey.
Whether someone hired Allen once many years ago, regularly invites him back, recently discovered Allen The Balloon Man, or simply follows and supports his work, that person has played a part in his story.
After 38 years, Allen remains grateful that he still gets to bring smiles, laughter, and a little balloon magic to people of all ages.
